Zambia
Zambia has the reputation of being Africa’s best kept secret. Zambia was
the first place to introduce the walking safari, pioneered by the legendary Norman
Carr in 1958. Norman Carr Safaris & Robin Pope operate May – October
each year in the South Luangwa National Park. Walking safaris have rightly been
described as the ultimate way to experience the African wilderness. As soon as
you are on foot in the bush you become a part of it. You can hear, smell and
feel the bush as well as see it.
Zambia’s South Luangwa Valley, in particular,
is home to some of the world's highest populations of leopards, lions and elephants.
One of the most endangered predators, the wild dog, is found in the park and
along with the infamous honey badger. It is also home to certain varieties of
animals not found anywhere else in the world, such as the Thornicoft’s
Giraffe and Crawshay’s Zebra.
Lower Zambezi National Park tented camps
offer river cruises, canoeing and fishing, in addition to the usual ‘safari’ type
activities. Chongwe River Camp offers luxury accommodation consisting of large
tented chalets under a thatched roof, with well-appointed en-suite bathroom facilities.
At night and often during the day as well, you will share the camp with numerous
gentle elephants, view hippo’s & crocs while sipping on hot tea. Enjoy
hard earned sundowners with local guides full of local knowledge while viewing
perfect sunsets in the African sky.
No trip to Zambia is complete without viewing
Victoria Falls, Livingston, one of the true natural wonders of the world. Wendy
Buckley of Africa Specialists was fortunate to visit Zambia in May 2007.
Egypt
Egypt remains one of life’s great destinations. The sheer scale, age and
volume of the ancient ruins and tombs found along the entire course of the Nile,
is extraordinary by any standard. Magnificent temples, superb sculptures and
intricately decorated ancient tombs are only some of the delights of this wonderful
land.
Alexandria has an atmosphere that is more Mediterranean than Middle Eastern
and the city is famous for its Roman remains. Experience the world famous Pyramids
Sound and Light Show in Giza for a truly unforgettable evening of entertainment.
Hear the story of Egypt as seen through the eyes of the Sphinx over the ages.
Enjoy the beautiful scenery as you cruise the Nile on a cruise from Luxor
to Aswan. Sightseeing with a private guide, entrance fees and meals are included
on a luxuriously relaxing cruise on Egypt's famous river.
Dubai
Dubai offers an extensive horizon of things to do, see, experience and learn.
It is surrounded by mysterious deserts, sand dunes and the stunning Hajar Mountains.
It is divided by the Creek which is essentially an inlet from the gulf splitting
the commercial centre of Dubai in two. You'll find amazing beach resorts, incredibly
high tech buildings all side by side with old traditional houses and mosques.
The city of Dubai embraces its namesake creek, dividing it into two halves.
The main sightseeing circuit in Dubai is split between Bur Dubai and Deira which
lie on opposite sides of the water, and the gently curving Dubai Creek is an
attraction in itself. You will have plenty of opportunities for some brilliant
views of the city from the water: gleaming skyscrapers on one side, and old trading
dhows on the other.
Jumeirah, home to some of Dubai's finest luxury hotels and
resorts, unspoilt stretches of sunny beaches and water sports complexes. In Jumeirah
is the Grand Mosque, re-built in 1998, with the city's tallest minaret, nine
large domes and 45 small domes - a distinguished landmark and an important place
of worship.
